Optimized for modern digital sensors with 5-micron pixel pitch, the lens achieves resolving power of up to 100 line pairs per millimeter, ensuring outstanding detail for today's ultra-high-resolution imaging systems. Its advanced retrofocus optical design provides additional clearance between the lens and the sensor, minimizing chromatic aberration and reducing color fringing caused by the sensor's protective glass while allowing generous camera movements.
The lens features a generous 90mm image circle, enabling extensive rise, fall, shift, and tilt movements on technical cameras while maintaining exceptional edge-to-edge image quality. It performs optimally between f/5.6 and f/8, although the wide-open f/4 aperture remains virtually free from vignetting, making focusing and composition easier in low-light situations.
As an Aperture Body version, the lens does not include a mechanical leaf shutter and is intended for use with medium format digital backs equipped with an electronic shutter, including systems such as the Phase One IQ3, IQ4, and compatible Hasselblad CFV-II digital backs.
